Policy for Career Pathway Centre (CPC) Space Utilization by Student Teams

1. Purpose

The Career Pathway Centre (CPC) provides space for student teams to conduct approved activities relating to career development, placement preparation, training, meetings, discussions and other student-development activities.

The space is expected to be used responsibly and in a manner that maintains a professional, safe and conducive environment.

2. Eligibility and Booking

  • The CPC space may be used only by members of authorized student teams with prior approval from the CPC.
  • The space must be booked through the prescribed booking process, specifying the purpose, date, time and responsible student/team.
  • The space shall be used only for the approved purpose and by the approved team.
  • The booking time must be strictly adhered to, and the space must be vacated promptly at the end of the approved period.
  • CPC reserves the right to cancel or modify a booking without prior notice if the space is required for an official Institute activity.

3. Guidelines for Use

  • Food and Beverages: Consumption of food and beverages is strictly prohibited inside the CPC space.
  • Sleeping/Resting: The space must not be used for sleeping or resting.
  • Restricted Hours: The CPC space will not be available for student-team use between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
  • Storage: The space must not be used for storing personal belongings, equipment, materials or other items. You are responsible for the safety of your belongings.
  • Cleanliness: Users must use the facilities with care and hand over the space in good condition.
  • Noise: Activities must be conducted at a reasonable volume so as not to disturb other users or nearby academic/administrative activities.
  • Institute Property: All furniture, fixtures, equipment and other Institute property must be handled with due care. Any damage caused through negligence, misuse or unauthorized use may be recovered from the responsible individual/team. Additionally, furniture and equipment must remain in their designated places and must not be moved or rearranged without permission.
  • Identity Card: Students using the CPC space must carry their valid Institute identity card.
  • Use of Technical and Audio-Visual Equipment
    1. Technical and audio-visual equipment must be used carefully and only for the approved purpose.
    2. Equipment must not be disconnected, reconfigured, relocated or otherwise altered without authorization.
    3. Any damage or malfunction noticed during use must be reported immediately to the CPC.
    4. The cost of repair or replacement arising from negligence, misuse or unauthorized use may be recovered from the responsible individual/team.

4. Safety Compliance and Conduct

  • All users must comply with Institute safety and security instructions.
  • Fire exits, access routes and emergency passages must remain unobstructed at all times.
  • Activities involving fire, flammable materials or hazardous substances are not permitted.
  • Alcohol, drugs, intoxication, ragging, harassment, intimidation or any other inappropriate or prohibited behaviour are strictly prohibited.
  • Prior permission should be taken for any photography or video recording involving other individuals.
  • The CPC space must not be used for any activity that violates Institute rules, policies or applicable law.

5. Violations and Penalties

Violation of the guidelines shall result in cancellation of the booking and/or withdrawal of permission to use the CPC space in future.

6. Caretaker and After-Office-Hours Use

  • A caretaker designated by the Office will be available beyond regular office hours to facilitate and supervise the use of the CPC space.
  • Student teams using the space beyond office hours must strictly follow the instructions of the caretaker regarding opening, closing, use of facilities, furniture, equipment, safety and any other operational matters.
  • The caretaker’s instructions relating to the safe and proper use of the CPC space shall be complied with by all users.
  • The student team shall remain responsible for the conduct of its members and for ensuring that the space is left in proper condition after use.
